Full Moon, rituals and how to harness its power

You want to absorb the superpowers of the first of only two Super moons that will occur in 2021. We'll be treated to two Super moons this year, the first on April 26 and the second on May 26.

The Moon shines as a perfect white circle in the sky every 29.5 days. This is called Full Moon. Full moons that appear larger in the sky than normal are known as Super moons, but the difference may not be visible to the naked eye. In 1979, astrologer Richard Nolle came up with the term "Super moon," which refers to a new or full Moon that happens when the Moon is within 90 percent of perigee, its closest approach to Earth.

This full Moon was called the "Pink" Moon and, while we wish this name had more to do with the Moon's colour, the truth isn't quite as magical as we would like to. In fact, the full Moon in April always happened to coincide with the early spring blooms of a wildflower native to eastern North America called Phlox subulata, also known as creeping phlox or moss phlox, and also known as "moss pink."

Although is not literally pink, this Super Moon in April is as beautiful and fantastical as it sounds, and it's about to shower you with lovely celestial vibrations.

There is an ancient proverb saying:” The Sun sees your body. The Moon sees your soul.” This proverb captures humanity's relationship with the Moon perfectly.

We mostly look to the Sun for light and clarity, but the Moon is the one that helps us get through the darkest hours. We go through phases as humans, just like the Moon does every month. Since the lunar cycle affects the tides, plant growth, and animal behaviour, it would be a mistake to believe that the Moon does not affect human life.

The Moon cycles bring in energy shifts which can affect your mood and energy levels. Emotional imbalances are common in the week leading up to the New or Full Moon. This is why I strongly advise you to write down the dates on your calendar so you can be more mindful of your thoughts and emotions and better control your reactions to different circumstances.

The Full Moon is the perfect time to release all that is holding us back, so releasing and burning rituals are particularly effective during this time You may also perform rituals to release suppressed feelings or self-limiting beliefs.

Here are some steps that can help you create your own ritual to harvest the power of a Full Moon:

  1. TAKE DEEP BREATHES IN SILENCE

Take 5 deep breaths. Hold each one for 10 seconds, exhale slowly counting up to 10 concentrating entirely on the cleansing effect.

  1. LIGHT A CANDLE

The spiritual act of lighting a candle has been associated with increased intuition. When it comes to letting go of negativity, intuition can be extremely useful.

  1. WRITE DOWN WHAT’S TROUBLING YOU

I invite you to write down everything you want to let go of in your life and burn it (safely!) under the full moon's power.

  1. VISUALISE YOUR GOAL

Imagine how beautiful your life would be if you would do anything different. Picture your desired life in detail and allow your heart to swell with joy at how wonderful this feels. How does it get any better than this? What choices can you make so you can bring into reality your desired life, goals?

  1. FORGIVE!! SPEAK YOUR INTENTION FOR FORGIVENESS ALOUD TO THE FULL MOON

Say it out loud, whether you're forgiving someone else or yourself. Begin by saying, "I forgive…," and feel the negativity dissipate. You're releasing it into the Universe, and imagine how this negative energy is transmuted into Unconditional Love. Or you can simply use the beautiful Hawaiian ho’oponopono prayer: “I’M SORRY; PLEASE FORGIVE ME, THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU”, a very powerful tool for forgiveness.

These are some easy steps to create your own ritual, of course, there are other ways to harness the power of a Full Moon and I invite you to do more research on this topic. It is important to find your unique way to connect with the energy of the Moon and establish a deep relationship with it.

The Full Moon is also an excellent time to cleanse and charge your crystals, so put them outside or near a window so they can absorb the intense lunar energies.

Collect all of your chosen crystals, they can be tumbled stones, clusters, geodes, carved crystals or not, it does not matter, and place them out in the moonlight outside. They should ideally be positioned on the ground or a natural surface. Crystals, like our bodies, prefer to be grounded. If you don't have access to any soil or grass, you can simply position them on a windowsill or a natural surface, such as a wooden plate, on your balcony. Let your crystals out overnight and pick them in the morning if possible. The Full Moon will charge the natural properties of the crystals you have. However, it's really important to also charge your crystals with your specific intentions, check our blog on how to program your crystals.

It's essential to mention that clouds do not influence the energy of the Moon. So, while it's ideal and, according to some, more efficient to have your crystals in direct moonlight, it's not absolutely necessary. So even though it's cloudy or raining, you can use the Full Moon's energy to cleanse your crystals. Just make sure the crystals you use are safe to come into contact with water. Keep Selenite and Malachite inside, for example, because the rain would damage them. Many tumble stones and crystals, such as the Quartz family, are safe to be outside in the rain. Rain and water, in reality, will help in their cleansing.

Check our tumbled stones, clusters, geodes and carvings and palm stones as they could be a great addition for your moon rituals.

I hope this article helps you to be more mindful of the Moon cycles and how to harness their magical and benevolent power.
